Ideas with the Best Reception
These are the ideas that were received best by my team and people seemed to like the most.
Stronger Quantum Mechanics Focus ๐ญ
- Players Characters are a type of Quantum Planet Hunters!! โ So cool, very cool ๐ฝ ๐ง๐ปโ๐
- Instead of being inside a blackhole the player characters are on a big (or small) Quantum Planet that only remains in a physical state while being observed. ๐ช
- The building mechanics revolve more around observing the landscape and bringing that landmass into focus through our dimension
- Quantum Objects are constantly trying to return to a state of un-observableness so there could be a game mechanic revolved around timing where the tiles will slowly disappear over time, creating more tension and desperation to move in the level โ This also changes the direction of the building a bit as it is no longer about building your very own dungeon and then optimising it but rather making the best of the current situation and doing the best with the building options you currently have, and as they slowly start to fall apart the player is rapidly trying to repair/fix the level or just keep moving forward to keep up the pace. โ This provides more opportunities for building as the once built landmasses start to disappear and the player now has an opportunity to replace it with another landmass, or at least a part of it. The main thing this could affect adversely is the players strategy as they will be constantly needing to switch up their strategy and adapt to the tiles currently available and long term strategies are not much as viable as before.
- The landmass that is observed will have different tiles depending on the observing characters ocean stats โ Love this idea ๐ ๐ง๐ปโ๐
- Tiles/Landmasses and Enemies are pulled from the 4th dimension upon observation and are desperately trying to return (Little do the player characters know)
- These Quantum Planets harbour incredibly rare resources, vital to the immigration fleets mission of retaking their long lost home world. ๐งช
- The tone and seriousness of the themes and characters would be similar to Darkest Dungeon (hard edged, ostracised, outcasts forced into this specialized field due to past mistakes or traumas or criminal actions for personal reasons) โ Gives plenty to explore in the storylets!! ๐คค
- The tone of the writing can also take inspiration directly from Wildermyth in its brief moments of levity and humour and character, but the characters are not on a grand adventure trying to increase their renown and grow their legend, instead they are simply trying to survive their situation so that their legend may live on and prosper, so there must be stakes!! ๐ฅฉ
- For some scenic flair the setting could take place around the immediate orbit of a black hole, this is to appease my obsession with black holes but also gives the background something beautiful to animate and have ambiently moving beneath the dead and empty space the player is filling in with the building mechanics. ๐
